The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading mechanical design on projects and serves as the Engineer of Record. This position includes directing the mechanical team, ensuring complete and coordinated documentation, and managing collaboration with internal disciplines and external consultants. The Senior Mechanical Engineer may also act as the Project Manager for the entire design team.

This role requires advanced expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems design, the design and integration of building automation systems, and a strong understanding of fire suppression systems. It also includes management of design team members, construction administration processes, and the development of long-term client relationships.

Core responsibilities include preparing mechanical design documents that meet company standards, overseeing project timelines, and ensuring deadlines are met. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will manage QA/QC efforts, review mechanical budget hours, and coordinate staffing needs weekly with the Project Manager. This role involves working closely with the Project Manager to align manpower needs with project schedules and budget expectations. Additionally, the position requires mentoring junior engineers and overseeing standard construction administration tasks such as reviewing submittals, evaluating pay applications, and attending OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor) meetings.

Candidates must be a registered Professional Engineer with approximately 10 years of experience. Industry-specific experience in healthcare, education, commercial, federal, and light industrial sectors is required. This position may require occasional night and weekend work to meet critical project deadlines.
