Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Purpose:
The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the electrical design on projects and serves as the Engineer of Record. This role involves directing and mentoring electrical staff, managing design documentation, and coordinating efforts across internal teams and external consultants. The position may also act as the Project Manager for the entire design team.
Key Areas of Expertise:
This role requires proficiency in electric load design and analysis, lighting and lighting controls, power distribution systems (both normal and emergency), and fire alarm system design.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for preparing project design documents in accordance with company standards, monitoring project progress and deadlines, and ensuring QA/QC reviews are completed on time. The role includes coordinating staffing needs, reviewing electrical budget hours, and working with project managers to align manpower with project timing and budgets. This position also mentors junior staff and oversees standard construction administration duties such as submittal reviews, pay application evaluations, and attending OAC meetings.
Qualifications & Continuing Education:
Candidates must be a registered Professional Engineer with approximately 10 years of experience. Experience should be specific to the healthcare, education, commercial, federal, and light industrial sectors. The ideal candidate can build and maintain strong client relationships, communicate effectively with various disciplines, and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills.
Continuing education is required to maintain professional registration.
Working Conditions:
This position may require occasional night and weekend work to meet critical project deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of drawings and climb ladders as needed.
